The Story of Two Gifts
Rich: Investing According to Jesus (Week 3)
Summary: Mark tells us about one woman who gives an incredibly small offering at the Temple and another who gives an immensely valuable gift to Jesus. On one hand the gifts couldn’t be more different, but to Jesus the gifts look very similar. His responses to each gift teaches us something about giving and the ways in which we respond to others around us.
Scriptures: Mark 12:41-44, 14:3-9
Series Description: Jesus has a lot to say about money and about what it means to be “rich” — or better yet, he tells us toward whom we should be rich. (Spoiler Alert: It’s God.) Jesus seems to talk about money in terms of investing, encouraging us to "lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.” So what if we asked ourselves a simple question: What am I investing in?
