31st & Vine (Worship)
31st & Vine
"Not your average worship band" doesn't begin to describe the musicians of 31st & Vine. From all walks of life these folks give up hours a week to volunteer time to lead people in worship every Sunday. From guitars to vocals to drums, the surprising mix of contemporary christian music and new originals are designed to lead you to a place of adoring worship of The Creator, not blow the roof off of the building. 31st & Vine delivers an experience that almost anyone can enjoy.
Chris Payne @paynefish
Worship Leader; Guitar
Around music all his life, Chris wandered down a strange path to become the Worship Leader of The Vine. Just five years ago he dismissed Christian music as people who just wanted to sell records in a different genre, and then it happened: A friend introduced him to the music of Third Day. Amazed at how the music of Mack Powell spoke to him, he sought out others and sparked a deep seeded passion for "music for the Maker" (as his Twitter description states). Chris has recently started writing and performing original works, which can be heard occasionally at The Vine on Sunday mornings.
Chris says, " It is a blessing to be leading worship with some of the best musicians I know while bringing glory to God. These guys are amazing to do life with every week, and it's hard to imagine what my life was like before The Vine gave all of us this opportunity."
Tom Greene is a former physician who now works in the pharmaceutical industry. "I have been playing guitar most of my life," Tom says, "but I am new to contemporary Christian music. I love it's open chords and tight harmonies, and it's themes of grace and salvation. I am blessed every week to accompany the congregation as it lifts its holy voice to worship our God."
Fisher is a Sophomore at Temple High School where he has earned first Chair susaphone in the all state freshman band.
